If you are planning to visit more than one island this winter, start with the flights. The inter island network is small, and the connections that exist decide which islands you can sensibly combine, so let the timetable shape the route rather than the other way around. Book the domestic flights before the hotels. The airline is CVsky, the brand of the state owned company LACV, which took over the inter island network earlier this year. Older guidebooks and some booking sites still list a different name.
What this means when you book
Look for CVsky when you search for a flight between the islands. Cabo Verde Airlines now concentrates on international routes, so searching for that name will not show you the inter island network. If a booking site offers you a domestic flight under an older name, check the operator before you pay.
Plan the connections early
The inter island network is small, and seats on the busiest routes go quickly in high season. If your island hopping depends on one particular flight, book it before you book the hotel rather than after. A missed connection between islands is harder to fix than a missed night.
Ferries are the alternative
Santo Antão has no airport of its own, so every visitor arrives at this harbour by boat from São Vicente.
Not every island pair has a daily flight, and some are better reached by boat. The crossing between São Vicente and Santo Antão runs several times a day and takes about an hour. Our ferry page has the routes and the schedules.
Check the entry rules before you book
The entry requirements changed at the start of 2026 and visa on arrival no longer exists. Whether you need a visa in advance now depends on your nationality, and pre registration through EASE plus the airport security fee applies to everyone. Our entry requirements page has the current rules.
