Do I have to book domestic flights in advance?
That depends on the period in which you travel and how flexible you want to be on a journey. Our advice: if you know when you go to which island, you book an airline ticket. That way you can be sure that you have a place. As a rule, the airline tickets are cheaper as you book earlier.
In short, booking an airline ticket in advance is recommended.
How long in advance do you have to be at the airport?
The airports in Cape Verde are not large. Standing in line for a long time is not usual. Make sure you are on time, because you do not want to miss your domestic flight. You can check in with domestic flights in Cape Verde up to one hour in advance.
Do I pay extra for my luggage?
Luggage is included with your flight ticket for a domestic flight. You can bring up to 23 kilograms (30 kilograms with the Plus fare). If you have more luggage, you pay a surcharge. Hand luggage is also allowed. Hand luggage must not exceed 22 x 33 x 44 cm and weight no more than 6 kilograms.v
Is the airline reliable?
CVsky is a professional organization with modern aircraft. So you can board this airline without any worries. Because the distances between the islands are limited, the airline does not fly with super large aircraft. So you will feel turbulence faster. The fleet is small, so there is little slack: maintenance or a technical problem on one aircraft feeds straight through into the whole domestic schedule. Book well ahead, and do not plan a tight connection onto your international flight.
How frequent are domestic flights between the Cape Verde Islands?
There are daily flights between Praia (Santiago) and Sal, Boa Vista, São Vicente and Fogo, and between Sal and São Vicente; between Praia and Fogo even several times a day. Sal–Boa Vista, Maio and São Nicolau have a flight a few times a week (checked on 27 October 2026). Fogo and Maio can only be reached by air from Praia: from any other island you change planes in Praia. CVsky flies to São Nicolau from Praia, Sal and São Vicente.
