Celebrate Christmas and New Year in Cape Verde

Christmas celebrations on the beach are a common phenomenon on the islands. And a long New Year celebration is in many places rule rather than exception.

Celebrating the holidays abroad in general is of course not very different than you do at home, but it does have a few good aspects. Spending the holidays at the Cape Verde islands is mainly much more relaxing. You are on vacation and do not have to do anything. Moreover, you have in Cape Verde a wonderful subtropical climate. On average, the temperature is namely 26 degrees with generally plenty of sun. The sea is wonderfully warm in December, the sea water temperature is around 25 degrees Celsius.

Do’s and don’ts during Christmas and New Year in Cape Verde

Do’s:

  • Watch fireworks on the beach;
  • Party all day and night during New Year on Sao Vicente;
  • Take a New Year’s dip in the lovely warm ocean.

Don’ts:

  • Not making reservations if you go out for dinner;
  • Shopping on New Year’s Day, many shops are closed;
  • Go to bed early, Cape Verdeans party all night.

Be on time to book your vacation

There is always a high demand for tickets and accommodations to spend the Christmas holidays in Cape Verde. December is the month today that are firmly in the high season category. For it is also high season in December. Besides holidaymakers, a lot of Cape Verdeans who live abroad go and visit relatives in their homeland during the holidays. When planning a holiday to Cape Verde take into account that there may be a possible shortages in airline tickets and accommodation facilities. In short, book on time and enjoy the wonderfull Cape Verde islands.

    Hello,

    I would like to come to Cape Verde islands in the second half of December and move around themm mainly with ferry and shared taxi, My only question is if it is possible in Christmas period, and if not what is the period is the period I should expect difficulties?

      Yes, especially the larger hotels or hotels that are part of a hotel chain. You can check in advance with the hotel what kind of celebrations they have.
